How Does Early Fire and Smoke Detection with Cameras Work?

1 min read

Learn how computer vision can detect early signs of flame and smoke in large outdoor areas and industrial facilities.

The need for early warning in large areas

Traditional sensors may have limited coverage in warehouses, forest boundaries and outdoor industrial areas. Analysing camera images with AI helps detect visible smoke and flame signs from a distance.

How does it work?

The model evaluates movement, colour, shape and changes over time. When a suspicious condition continues for a defined period, an alert is generated. Event images can be sent to a control centre and integrated with existing fire automation.

Layered safety

Camera-based detection should be treated as an additional early-warning layer that supports, rather than replaces, certified fire detection systems.
