Dry Contact Transmission Between Two Remote Locations

A practical automation scenario where two NetRelay devices transmit a sensor state to a relay kilometres away.
Where cabling is not practical
A float switch state in a water tank needed to reach a pump station several kilometres away. Installing a new signal cable across the terrain would have been expensive.
Two-device solution
The NetRelay at the tank reads the float state through a digital input. This information is sent over the network to the second NetRelay, where the pump relay is switched accordingly. Communication can use a local wireless bridge, Ethernet or a secure internet connection.
Control scenarios
Rules can be defined to keep the pump in a safe state during communication loss, generate an alarm after a timeout or enable manual control.
