Server Room Temperature and Internet Monitoring with NetRelay

1 min read

A realistic scenario for monitoring temperature, power and connectivity in server rooms using NetRelay.

How are overnight failures detected?

In a small business server room, an air-conditioning failure was not noticed overnight and device temperatures reached critical levels. When the internet modem froze, technical staff also had to intervene physically.

NetRelay-based solution

A temperature sensor is monitored through an analogue or digital input. When the threshold is exceeded, a backup fan can be activated and an email notification sent. Ping Watchdog checks internet availability; if the connection does not recover, modem power can be cycled through a relay.

Continuous monitoring

With RTC and MicroSD options, event records can be stored locally even without internet access. This makes it possible to review when the fault started and which action was taken.
