The M&L technology approach
Network & Environmental Monitoring Automation
Automatically activate cooling when temperatures rise and trigger alerts, SMS notifications or relay-based recovery actions when Internet connectivity or critical network devices fail.

Do More Than Monitor Critical Infrastructure — Respond Automatically
Temperature and connectivity failures in server rooms, network cabinets, remote sites and critical communications infrastructure can cause significant service interruptions when they are detected too late. NetRelay enables environmental data, digital inputs and network availability to be monitored together while automatically responding to critical conditions.
Cooling equipment can automatically activate when temperature exceeds configured limits. If a modem, router, access point, switch or Internet connection becomes unreachable, the system can generate alerts, trigger external SMS workflows or automatically restart equipment through relay control.
Automatically Activate Cooling When Temperature Rises
Temperature sensors can monitor server rooms, electrical cabinets and network enclosures. When temperature exceeds a configured limit, NetRelay can activate ventilation fans, exhaust systems or appropriate cooling equipment through its relay outputs.
For example, ventilation can start at 30°C and stop automatically when the temperature returns to a safe level.
Use Hysteresis for Stable Temperature Control
Separate ON and OFF thresholds can prevent cooling equipment from repeatedly switching around a single temperature value. A fan may start at 30°C and remain active until temperature falls to 26°C.
Multi-Stage Temperature Response
Different actions can be assigned to different temperature levels. The first threshold can activate a fan, a higher threshold can start secondary cooling and a critical temperature can generate an emergency alert.
Monitor Network Devices with Ping Watchdog
NetRelay Ping Watchdog can periodically verify the availability of critical IP addresses. Modems, routers, access points, servers, NVR systems and other IP devices can be monitored in this way.
If a device fails to respond for a configured period, the system can automatically execute a predefined recovery action.
Automatically Restart a Modem After Internet Failure
Remote sites frequently experience modem or router failures that would otherwise require manual intervention. NetRelay can verify Internet availability and perform a controlled power cycle when connectivity remains unavailable.
Recovery can be initiated only after multiple failed checks to avoid unnecessary restarts caused by short packet-loss events.
Verify Recovery After Restart
Automation can continue after the initial restart. Once the modem or router has rebooted, connectivity can be checked again. If service is still unavailable, the incident can be escalated to the technical team.
SMS Notifications for Critical Events
Events generated by NetRelay can be integrated through API, MQTT or central software with external SMS services. Temperature alarms, connectivity failures and automatic restart events can therefore be delivered to responsible personnel.
Alternative SMS Channels During Internet Failure
When the primary Internet connection is completely unavailable, cloud-based SMS services may also become unreachable. Critical remote installations can therefore use an independent GSM/LTE modem, SMS gateway or secondary communication channel to deliver alarms outside the failed Internet connection.
Monitor Multiple IP Targets
A single failed host does not always mean the Internet connection itself has failed. Monitoring multiple external and internal targets can help central software distinguish between Internet outages, gateway failures and individual device problems.
Router, Access Point and Switch Monitoring
Ping Watchdog can also monitor critical network infrastructure throughout factories, hotels, residential sites, schools and corporate environments. Unreachable equipment can generate an alert or, where appropriate, be restarted through physical relay control.
NVR and Security System Monitoring
NVR systems and other IP-based security devices can be continuously checked. Connectivity failures can generate immediate security events rather than remaining unnoticed for hours.
Server Room Environmental and Door Monitoring
In addition to temperature, magnetic door contacts, suitable UPS alarm contacts, water detection systems and other dry-contact signals can be monitored through NetRelay digital inputs.
A Real Server Room Scenario
Consider a server room with temperature monitoring, a door contact and a UPS alarm input connected to NetRelay. The gateway, main router, NVR and central server are also monitored through Ping Watchdog.
When temperature exceeds 30°C, RELAY1 activates the ventilation fan. If the main router remains unreachable, RELAY2 performs a controlled restart. Connectivity is checked again after reboot. If the problem remains unresolved, a critical maintenance alert is generated.
Remote Site Scenario
NetRelay can provide local control at unmanned cabinets, communication sites and remote technical installations. Temperature, power status and network availability are monitored while fans, modems and other equipment can be managed automatically.

Measure the Actual Duration of Outages
Recording both failure and recovery timestamps makes it possible to calculate service availability, evaluate ISP performance, track SLA metrics and compare connectivity quality across multiple sites.
Identify Recurring Problems
A router that requires several restarts every week or an enclosure that repeatedly reaches critical temperatures becomes a measurable maintenance issue rather than an isolated incident.
Automatic Recovery Before Escalation
Not every failure needs immediate human intervention. NetRelay can first attempt an automated recovery procedure. If connectivity returns, the event can be logged as automatically resolved. If recovery fails, the incident can then be escalated.
Bring Watchdog Logic into the Physical World
A software watchdog can restart a process. NetRelay can go one step further and physically power-cycle unresponsive hardware when required.
If temperature rises, cool it. If connectivity fails, verify it. If the device stops responding, restart it. If the problem remains, notify the responsible team. Turn critical network infrastructure into a system that not only monitors problems but automatically responds to them with NetRelay.
